11/09/11: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seal

2hr survey. Start time 09:00
Weather conditions: sunny/ fair, sea state 2-4, wind S
Three bottlenose dolphins including one calf

Dolphins were seen throughout the survey. They were seen staying in the same area whilst taking long dives and were thought to have been foraging at depth. The majority of the sightings were seen in the area near to the cardinal buoy with one dolphin being seen close to the harbour wall.

Three bottlenose dolphins including one calf

Dolphins were observed at different stages of the survey. The dolphins were seen foraging and taking long dives in the same area close to the cardinal buoy.

Two bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal

Dolphins and grey seals were seen at different stages of the survey. The dolphins were seen foraging and taking long diving close to the cardinal buoy. They were later seen travelling west whilst searching for prey. The Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water close to the harbour wall.

Five bottlenose dolphins including two calves

The dolphins were observed for a large proportion of the survey. They were initially seen travelling north west but later they were seen foraging and staying in the same area. The dolphins were seen north of the harbour wall.
