11/08/2014: 19 Bottlenose dolphins

2hr survey. Start time 07:00
Weather conditions: sunny with clouds. Sea state 4. Wind SW.
Three bottlenose dolphins.

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the survey, with a mother and calf foraging immediately off the harbour wall. A single dolphin then continued to forage around the harbour bay for the majority of the survey, with another individual later seen foraging further out in the bay, closer to the cardinal buoy.

Seven bottlenose dolphins.

At the beginning of the survey a single bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging near the cardinal buoy, a single dolphin was then seen foraging just off the harbour wall. Three bottlenose dolphins then traveled in from near the fish factory, and began foraging in the bay and settling near the cardinal buoy. These groups merged leaving a group of four bottlenose dolphins foraging near the buoy. towards the end of the survey this group left and two other bottlenose dolphins began foraging in the area.

Four bottlenose dolphins and an Atlantic grey seal

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the survey beginning with a mother and calf foraging near the cardinal buoy. Two other individuals were seen throughout the second half of the survey, moving and foraging around the bay. Half way through the survey a single Atlantic Grey Seal was seen in the water off the fish factory.

Three bottlenose dolphin.

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the survey with two individuals foraging out near the cardinal buoy. Towards the middle of the survey while one bottlenose dolphin was still foraging near the cardinal buoy, a mother and calf were seen traveling towards them. These three bottlenose dolphins (including one calf) continued to forage near the cardinal buoy until the end of the survey when they moved closer in to Traeth Dolau.

Weather conditions: Sunny/fair. Sea state 4-5. Wind W.
Two Bottlenose dolphins.

No bottlenose dolphins were seen for the first half of the survey, until a mother and calf began foraging just off the harbour wall. They were later identified as Connie and her calf. They traveled across the harbour and followed the shore line of Traeth Gwyn, before returning to the harbour wall shortly before the end of the survey.
