11/06/11 – 41 bottlenose dolphins and 4 Atlantic grey seals

Weather Conditions: Sea state mainly 2 or 3 becoming 4 at times, visibility 1->10km, swell light

Two adult bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging at 10:12. At 10:15 five bottlenose dolphins including one juvenile were seen foraging and tail slapping 150m from the boat. At this point photo ID and acoustic recording took place.

At 10:37 one juvenile Atlantic grey seal was seen hauled out.

At 11:07 15 bottlenose dolphins were seen, including 13 sub-adults. Two of the adults were bow-riding.

At 12:48 ten bottlenose dolphins were seen travelling fast, 60m from the boat. They were also leaping and bow-riding.

At 12:52, five adult bottlenose dolphins were seen travelling fast and leaping 150m from the boat.

At 13:41 a juvenile Atlantic grey seal was spotted hauled out 130m from the boat.

2hr: Start 13:59

Weather Conditions: Sea state 3, visibility >10km, swell light

At 14:53 one adult Atlantic grey seal was spotted travelling W, 10m from the boat. At 14:56, one adult male Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water 25m from the boat.

At 15:10, four bottlenose dolphins including two calves were spotted foraging 10m from the boat.  At this point photo ID was carried out.
