11/04/15: Daily the Common Dolphin, a Bottlenose Dolphin and an Atlantic Grey Seal

2hr survey. Start time 09:00
Weather conditions: Fair/sunny, sea state 2-3, wind direction S becoming SW.
One bottlenose dolphin and one atlantic grey seal

In the middle portion of the survey a bottlenose dolphin was spotted north of the harbour wall diving at depth to forage and travelling west. An Atlantic grey seal was also seen north of the wall in the water ‘bottling’ with only its head above the surface of the water.

Weather conditions: Sunny/fair, sea state 3-4, wind direction NW becoming SE
One common dolphin seen

Daily the common dolphin was seen throughout most of the survey in his usual spot in the bay. Daily was mainly milling at the surface but also foraging at depth taking long dives.

One common dolphin and a bottlenose dolphin

Daily the common dolphin was seen throughout the survey milling at the surface and foraging at depth. A bottlenose dolphin was spotted in the first half of the survey shallow diving at the surface and then was not seen again.

Daily the common dolphin was spotted throughout the survey period taking long dives and foraging at depth. Also an Atlantic grey seal was seen northeast of the harbour wall ‘bottling’ where seal is vertical in the water with only its head above the waters surface.
