10/07/2014 – Bottlenose Dolphins and Grey Seals

Weather conditions: Sunny, sea state 1, wind direction NW
Eight bottlenose dolphins, two Atlantic Grey Seals

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the survey, with two grey seals seen three quarters of an hour into the survey. The dolphins were in various locations, with sighting off New Quay head and close to the cardinal buoy. The dolphins were mostly foraging, with prey being chased at the surface.

Weather conditions: Overcast/ dull, sea state 1, wind direction NW
Four Bottlenose dolphins

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the survey, with a juvenile also seen within a group of three. The group of three bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging by the cardinal buoy throughout the majority of the survey.

Weather conditions: Overcast/ Fair, sea state 1, wind direction NW
Four bottlenose dolphins

Four bottlenose dolphins were seen in total throughout the majority of the survey, including one juvenile. However, for a period of 15 minutes the dolphins were not visible, with the majority of the activity occurring around the cardinal buoy, including foraging.

Six Bottlenose dolphins

Six Bottlenose dolphins were seen at the beginning of the survey, displaying surface leaps and travelling away from the cardinal buoy.
