09/09/2017: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

In the final 30 mins of this survey an Atlantic grey seal was seen just off the harbour wall at New Quay. This then left the survey area and no further sightings were made in this survey.

2hr survey. Start time 13:00
Weather conditions: fair/sunny, sea state 5-6, wind direction W

15 mins into this survey a pair of bottlenose dolphins were seen leaping near the fish factory. These two dolphins then began foraging here before then leaving the survey area within the first 45 mins of the survey. No more sightings were made during the remaining duration of the survey.

Weather conditions: sunny/overcast/rain, sea state 4-5, wind direction NW-N

This survey began with a brief sighting of a female Atlantic grey seal swimming in front of the harbour wall. A bottlenose dolphin was then seen foraging around the cardinal buoy which remained there for 30 mins before then being joined by a younger animal. These two animals remained foraging around the cardinal buoy for a further hour. These then disappeared from the survey area and no more sightings were made in the final 15 mins of the survey.
