09/04/15: 10 Atlantic Grey Seals, 10 Bottlenose Dolphins and Daily the Common Dolphin

Seven grey seals

Seven Atlantic grey seals were spotted altogether over four separate sightings. Four of these were identified as female with two of them hauled out on the rocks and the other two swimming and diving. The final three were spotted later on in the trip and also hauled out on the rocks.

Three grey seals and four bottlenose dolphins

The three grey seals were all seen together, 2 of which were female and were hauled out on the rocks, and the other male was just in the water. One bottlenose dolphin was seen alone and was travelling in a south-easterly direction. Finally four more bottlenose dolphins were spotted, three adults and one juvenile who were foraging and possibly looking for fish.

One common dolphin and five bottlenose dolphins

Daily the common dolphin was spotted both at the beginning and the end of the boat survey and was just mingling around in his usual spot. Five bottlenose dolphins were spotted mingling around and travelling in as easterly direction. These were all adults.
