07/10/10 – Four bottlenose dolphins, two Atlantic grey seals

Weather conditions: sea state 1-4, visibility >10km, swell light

Soon after departing from New Quay harbour one bottlenose dolphin was seen close to the cardinal buoy (at 10:35) and was thought to be foraging. Later on in the trip a female Atlantic grey seal was sighted in the water between Castell Bach and Ynys-Lochtyn. The final sighting of the trip was at 11:51, when two bottlenose dolphins were seen travelling in a North West direction.

Weather conditions: sea state 1-4, visibility >10km, swell light

During this one and a half hour boat trip one Atlantic grey seal and one bottlenose dolphin was seen. The male Atlantic grey seal was seen at 12:44 in the water at Castell Bach, from the right side of the boat. The dolphin was later seen travelling South East from just off New Quay Head at 13:28.
