05/08/12: 14 bottlenose dolphins, five Atlantic grey seals and ten harbour porpoises

Five bottlenose dolphins, three Atlantic grey seals and two harbour porpoises

The first sighting was one bottlenose dolphin seen travelling north near New Quay headland.  The next sighting was of a female Atlantic grey seal in the water near the caves of Trwyn Crou. A mother and calf harbour porpoise were spotted offshore from Cwm Tydu as well as an Atlantic grey seal in the water. An Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water between Cwm Tydu and Birds Rock. A bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging and travelling south near Birds Rock. A mother and juvenile bottlenose dolphin were seen foraging around the headland.  Another bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging around the cardinal buoy.

Weather conditions: sea state 2-1, visibility 1-10km, light swell
Three bottlenose dolphins and two harbour porpoises

The first bottlenose dolphin was spotted foraging in the bay, whilst another bottlenose dolphin was foraging in the harbour. Two harbour porpoises were seen foraging near Ynys Lochtyn. The final sighting was of a bottlenose dolphin foraging near Trwyn Crou.

Six bottlenose dolphins, two Atlantic grey seals and six harbour porpoises

A mother and a calf bottlenose dolphin were seen foraging around the cardinal buoy. One female Atlantic grey seal was seen during the survey. A group of four harbour porpoise including one calf were seen travelling east at Ynys Lochtyn. Another female Atlantic grey seal was seen during the survey. At Ynys Lochtyn two bottlenose dolphins including one calf were seen foraging. Two harbour porpoise were seen foraging offshore with kittiwake activity. Two more bottlenose dolphins including a calf were seen foraging by the fish factory.
