05/07/14 – Bottlenose dolphin, harbour porpoises and atlantic grey seals

Weather conditions: sea state 1-2, visibility >10km, light to moderate swell
Five bottlenose dolphins, two harbour porpoises and one atlantic grey seal

Three bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging, socialising and leaping very close to the boat near Bird’s Rock. Two harbour porpoises were seen near Llangrannog, milling near the surface. A male grey seal was later spotted in the water just before Bird’s rock near the end of the survey. Just before the end of the survey two bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging near the fish factory heading towards the harbour.

A bottlenose dolphin was seen close to the Cardinal buoy foraging. 10 minutes later a mother and calf bottlenose dolphin were seen traveling from the fish factory. Half way through the survey a grey seal was seen in the water off Ynys Lochtyn.  In the last 7 minutes two dolphins were seen near the fish factory foraging and later bow riding.
