03/11/2012: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

Weather conditions: fair to sunny, sea state 3, wind direction W/NW
Eight bottlenose dolphins, two Atlantic grey seals

One Atlantic grey seal was seen close to the harbour wall, shortly after two bottlenose dolphins began milling around on the surface north east of the harbour wall. Three bottlenose dolphins were then seen milling and foraging next to the fish factory whilst three bottlenose dolphins were seen travelling, foraging and milling. Leaping and chasing prey at the surface was later observed. An Atlantic grey seal was seen in front of the harbour wall also.

Weather conditions: fair, sunny and rainy, sea state 2-3, wind direction W/ SW
Five bottlenose dolphins, one Atlantic grey seal

Five bottlenose dolphins were seen north of the harbour wall and began foraging, travelling and leaping, the group split and three dolphins were seen to be leaping by the fish factory. An Atlantic grey seal was seen close to the harbour wall.

Weather conditions: fair, overcast and rainy, sea state 1-3, wind direction WSW/SW/SE
Six bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal

Five bottlenose dolphins including a calf were seen near the fish factory leaping, the group then split. The four dolphins including the calf were leaping south of the fish factory and two dolphins were leaping near to the cardinal buoy. An Atlantic grey seal was then seen close to the harbour wall.

Due to failing light, no 15.00 survey took place.
