03/10/11: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

Seven bottlenose dolphins and an Atlantic grey seal

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the majority of the survey.  They were mainly observed to be foraging and travelling around the fish factory area, showing some leaping behaviour later on.  An Atlantic grey seal was also seen north of the harbour wall, in the water.

Weather conditions: Sunny/fair, sea state 3-2, wind SW
Ten bottlenose dolphins and an Atlantic grey seal

Bottlenose dolphins were observed throughout the majority of the 11:00 survey.  The dolphins were mostly sighted in the area between the fish factory and harbour wall, later in the survey they moved further out towards the cardinal buoy.  The dolphins seen were foraging, milling around at the surface and leaping. A female Atlantic grey seal was also sighted in the last quarter of the survey, in the water, north of the harbour wall.

Weather conditions: Fair/sunny/overcast/dull, sea state 1, wind SW, S
Ten bottlenose dolphins and an Atlantic grey seal

Bottlenose dolphins were mostly seen in the first half of the survey.  The dolphins, including three calves, were observed to be foraging and travelling around the area north of the harbour wall.  An Atlantic grey seal was sighted in the water near the fish factory.
