02/07/2014 – Bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoises and atlantic grey seals

Seven adult bottlenose dolphins

Two bottlenose dolphins were seen at the beginning of the survey foraging around Bird’s Rock. In the last half an hour four bottlenose dolphins were seen again at Bird’s Rock, one of which was bow riding. At the end of the survey a dolphin was spotted milling around near the harbour wall.

Fifteen bottlenose dolphins and one atlantic grey seal

One bottlenose dolphin was spotted foraging at the beginning of the survey at the harbour wall. Seven were spotted later, including a mother with her juvenile and calf; foraging near Ynys Lochtyn. Twenty minutes later a female grey seal was seen hauled out near Cwmtydu. In the last four minutes of the survey seven were seen foraging near the fish factory.

Four bottlenose dolphins, two harbour porpoises and five atlantic grey seal.

At the beginning of the survey four bottlenose dolphins were spotted foraging and socialising near the fish factory. Half an hour later two harbour porpoises were seen at Ynys Lochtyn. In the last half an hour of the survey five female grey seals were seen. Three of which were hauled out near Cwmtydu, the other two were spotted in the water near Bird’s Rock.
