02/07/11: 18 bottlenose dolphins, 5 harbour porpoise and 4 Atlantic grey seals

Weather conditions: sea state 1, visibility >10km, light swell

At 10.04 two adult bottlenose dolphins were sighted leaping near New Quay headland 200m from the boat as it left the harbour.
At 10.22 one male Atlantic grey seal was sighted in the water near Bird’s Rock 70m from the boat.
At 11.49 two bottlenose dolphins were sighted 300m from the boat travelling north just offshore from New Quay headland.

Weather conditions: sea state 2, visibility >10km, light swell

At 12.49 one female Atlantic grey seal was seen 45m from the boat hauled out at Trwyn Crou.
At 12.51 one female Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water 45m from the boat at Trwyn Crou.
At 13.51 one sub adult bottlenose dolphin was sighted foraging just offshore from New Quay headland.
At 14.04 one adult bottlenose dolphin was sighted foraging 300m from the boat near New Quay bay.

4hr survey. Start time 14.10
Weather conditions: sea state 1-2, visibility >10km, light swell

At 14.39 four adults and one harbour porpoise calf were seen travelling east and foraging 100m from the boat just offshore from Trwyn Crou. Kittiwakes were also sighted here.
At 14.46 two adults and two juvenile bottlenose dolphins were seen leaping and travelling NW offshore from Trwyn Crou.
At 14.52 two adult bottlenose dolphins and a calf were sighted foraging and bow riding 900m from the boat at Pen-y-Badell.
At 15.21 one male Atlantic grey seal was seen swimming 150m from the boat in between Trwyn Crou and Pen-y-Badell.
At 16.28 one female Atlantic grey seal was sighted in the water 110m from the boat offshore from Aberporth bay.
At 17.41 two adults and two bottlenose dolphin calves were seen foraging 200m from the boat near New Quay headland.
