01/10/11: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

2hr survey. Start time 09:00
Weather conditions: Fair/sunny, sea state 1-2, wind S, SE,SSW
Seven bottlenose dolphins, including one calf and one Atlantic grey seal

Bottlenose dolphins were seen for the majority of the survey either foraging north of the harbour wall or around the cardinal buoy. The mother and calf were seen leaping and tail-slapping in front of the harbour wall. One Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water in front of the harbour wall.

Weather conditions: Sunny, sea state 1, wind SSE, SW, SSE
11 Bottlenose dolphins

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the survey period. The dolphins were seen foraging north of the harbour wall and around the cardinal buoy. Percussive behaviour in the form of tail slaps and leaps was also observed.

Weather conditions: Sunny/ fair, sea state 1, wind S
Six bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal

Bottlenose dolphins were observed at the start of the survey period. They were seen foraging, leaping and tail-slapping around the cardinal buoy. One Atlantic grey seal surfaced in front of the harbour wall.

Six bottlenose dolphins including one calf

Bottlenose dolphins were observed throughout the survey period. The dolphins were seen travelling between the fish factory and the cardinal buoy and foraging at both sites. A mother-calf pair was seen foraging north of the harbour wall.
