01/07/2014 – Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

Three adult bottlenose dolphins

The first pair of dolphins were seen at the beginning of the survey foraging around the harbour. The third was seen a few minutes later and was bow riding and travelling east.

Three bottlenose dolphins and two Atlantic grey seals

A group of three dolphins were seen foraging together 45 minutes in to the survey. Half an hour later a grey seal was seen hauled out and twenty minutes later another was spotted in the water.

Weather conditions: Sea state 2-3, visibility >10km, light swell
Five bottlenose dolphins and three Atlantic grey seals

Four adults were seen twenty minutes in to the survey milling on the surface and another single adult dolphin was seen an hour and a half in to the survey travelling south. Three grey seals were also seen midway in to the survey, two in the water, and another female hauled out.

One Atlantic grey seal.

A female grey seal was seen hauled out towards the end of the survey.
