Skomer Island
With nearly 350,000 breeding pairs of Manx Shearwaters, over 40,000 Puffins, thousands of Guillemots, Razorbills and Kittiwakes and hundreds of Fulmars, Skomer is an internationally important seabird island.
It is located less than a mile off the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast making it a great place to visit for the day or stay overnight.
Please note, Puffins start arriving in mid-April. They are present from May-July. The first ones start leaving in mid-July and all Puffins are gone by the end of July. Please see our seasonal timeline below for what to see each month.

Working together to protect wildlife
The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales is an independent, autonomous charity with its own Board of Trustees. We are run by a small group of dedicated staff and supported by a large number of enthusiastic volunteers!

Gutweed
This grass-green seaweed is sometimes known as Grass Kelp and grows on pretty much every shore in the UK.

A well known inhabitant of UK seas, common lobsters can reach up to 60cm in length.

Cae Pwll y Bo
This small damp meadow is known for its spectacular display of globeflowers. The reserve is all that remains of a much larger field that was originally part of Pwll y Bo farm.

Also known as the two-coloured mason bee, this beautiful bee is famous for nesting in old snail shells.

This large round urchin is sometimes found in rockpools, recognisable by its pink spiky shell (known as a test).
