Skomer Young Birders’ Week is running for 2 sessions in 2026, 6th – 9th September and 9th – 12th September. Booking opens on Monday 8th December. It is open to anyone aged 18-25.

Ashy mining bee
This black and grey solitary bee takes to the wing in spring, when it can be seen buzzing around burrows in open ground.
Whinchat
The whinchat is a summer visitor to UK heathlands, moorlands and open meadows. It looks similar to the stonechat, but is lighter in colour and has a distinctive pale eyestripe.
