An Atlantic grey seal appeared briefly by the harbour wall.
Red squirrels
There are two species of squirrel in the UK; red squirrels and grey squirrels. Red squirrels are our native species and have lived in the UK for around 10,000 years, Grey squirrels were introduced to the UK from North America by the Victorians in the 1800s, the first record of them escaping and establishing a wild population is 1876.
Sightings Update 12/01/2022
During the second survey of the day a female Atlantic grey seal was observed swimming in New Quay Bay.
Ashy mining bee
This black and grey solitary bee takes to the wing in spring, when it can be seen buzzing around burrows in open ground.
Nuthatch
The nuthatch is a tit-sized, grey and rust-coloured bird that can be easily spotted climbing headfirst down tree trunks in woodlands and parks.
My hang out
In their busy lives Robin and David rarely get chance to meet up despite both living in Derbyshire. Cromford Canal is the perfect place for the brothers to spend quality time together.
