Parc Slip Nature Reserve and Visitor Centre Receives Prestigious Green Flag Award for 3rd Year!

The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales’ (WTSWW) Parc Slip Nature Reserve and Visitor Centre, a haven for wildlife and a cherished community space in Bridgend, has been honoured with the prestigious Green Flag Award for 2023/24. This internationally recognised accreditation celebrates the exceptional environmental quality and outstanding visitor experience provided by the WTSWW Nature Reserve and Visitor Centre.

The Green Flag Award is a symbol of excellence in publicly accessible green space management, recognising parks and green spaces that meet stringent criteria for environmental sustainability, community involvement, and visitor satisfaction. Parc Slip Nature Reserve and Visitor Centre has surpassed these requirements, securing its position as one of the finest nature reserves in the UK.

Duncan Ludlow, Conservation Manager for WSTWW said, “For Parc Slip to be awarded the Green Flag for 3 years in a row is a fantastic achievement and is recognition of the hard work and dedication of all the WTSWW staff and volunteers, past and present. All of their efforts have contributed to the amazing nature reserve and visitor experience that we have today.”

Located at the base of the Llynfi Valley, Parc Slip Nature Reserve and Visitor Centre is one of WTSWW’s flagship reserves with strong links to its industrial past. The 300 acres reserve is a remarkable natural sanctuary, encompassing sprawling meadows, broadleaved woodlands, and captivating wetlands. The reserve serves as a vital habitat for a diverse range of species, including rare and endangered wildlife, making it an invaluable conservation site.

Parc Slip is just 5 minutes off the M4 J36 and has a large free car park, the Café and Visitor Centre is open Wednesday to Sunday 10am to 4pm. Open on August Bank Holiday Monday. Please keep dogs on a lead at all times when on the nature reserve.
