My happy place

Kedijah Eaves-O'Connor, Nottinghamshire
When the stresses of life get too much, I take a walk through Attenborough Nature Reserve - a form of free therapy. The fresh air, the bird calls, the beauty of nature surrounding me, is calming. It puts me at ease. Being in nature inevitably makes me happy. It’s where I always want to be.

Swans stand on the pathways, forcing anyone walking by to manoeuvre around them. Geese congregate in the car park, blocking people in. The joy and wonder of nature! They own the place that is reserved just for them.

I receive lovely smiles and hellos from fellow nature lovers, a real sense of community. The reserve is also a chance to admire the beautiful scenery located in the heart of Nottinghamshire, something I’m very grateful for. All of these things make me fall more in love with the environment, nature and wildlife. All of these wonderful things mean that I am in my happy place. Attenborough Nature Reserve is, and always will be, that place.
