Help Us Protect Wildlife For The Future

The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales manages some of the region’s most precious wild places.

Our developing strategy has three key themes:

1. Action for Nature - Key Goal: 30% of land and sea managed for nature by 2030

2. Action with people - Key Goal: One in four people taking action for nature by 2030

3. Action on Climate - Key Goal: Achievement of Net Zero by 2030

Our Trustees will take a central role in guiding the development and implementation of our strategy.

This year the Board has two vacancies and is looking for people who have a significant commitment to the aims of our Trust and our natural environment in South and West Wales. To enable us to connect effectively with the communities in which we work we encourage applications from a diverse range of people, including those under 25yrs, minorities and individuals with disabilities. We value and support the expression of every idea and perspective amongst our trustee and staff teams.

If you are over 18 and would like to use your skills and experience at Board governance level to help us help wildlife, then we would love to hear from you. Previous Board or Trustee experience is not necessary and we welcome applications from all backgrounds. We would like to continue to have a good geographical representation on the Board and hope to receive applications from all the counties of our Trust area.

The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales does not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, religion, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or national origin.

Trustees are unpaid volunteers. The commitment is to attend Board meetings which are which currently are mostly online (about 8 a year) as well as volunteering some spare time to help develop the Trust’s work and to occasionally attend other meetings or events.

The term of appointment is for up to three years in the first instance, although there is the opportunity to be co-opted to the Board for an initial term of one year.

Wildlife Trust staff are deeply committed to their work in protecting wildlife and are ably supported by many dedicated volunteers including Trustees. We have a lot of work to do and being a Trustee can feel demanding at times; you will be a member of a friendly and energetic team and the experience is always both worthwhile and rewarding.
