Teifi Marshes
We shall endeavour to keep you up to date on what is happening out on the reserve. Remember there are several walks around the reserve and maps are available in the visitor centre or in the 'bus shelter' in the car park. Please dress accordingly for walking as there is not a lot of shelter (apart from the hides). Some paths are uneven so wear stout footwear. Guided walks (free) Sundays and Wednesdays Easter to December, Sundays only January to Easter, at 2pm. During season meet outside cafe, closed season meet in car park.
During the summer of 2007 we were fortunate to have a full-time estates worker funded by the Phoenix Project. This was a great help to the reserve and to the visitor centre staff. As well as catching up with many outstanding jobs he also helped with the Tuesday volunteer group that does a lot of the ongoing maintenance work on the reserve. If you would like to join the Tuesday volunteer group please contact the Welsh Wildlife Centre.

Teifi Gorge Footpath
This footpath is a public right of way and has been difficult to pass at one particular point since last winter's flood which eroded part of the bank. Pembrokeshire County Council have now completed a diversion which involved much manual labour cutting a series of new steps into the side of the gorge and old quarries. The path is now much safer although there are now a few more steps to climb!
Marshes Work
Work will start this winter on several habitat enhancement works on the Marshes as part of the Wetland Enhancements Project. This includes the creation of a 40m x 60m 'scrape' or shallow pond near Mallard Hide, re-profiling part of the river bank near Otter Hide to encourage wider flooding and the creation or improvement of several smaller pools. This work has now been finished - we apologise for the state of the path and road near the car park during this time (it was rather muddy) as the spoil from the pond was dumped in the field area to the side of the lane.
Sightings
Badgers at nightDuring October starlings started to roost and recent sightings have included an Osprey on the river and Red Deer in full rut. The deer have been sighted by a number of visitors. A red fox trotted over the access road to the centre just in front of a car in early November. A badger watch group has started on a Wednesday (see Events page for information).
