Sightings Update 03/10/19: Bottlenose Dolphins and an Atlantic Grey Seals

Weather conditions: Cloudy, overcast, rain and high winds. Sea state 1-4, wind directions S/SE.

Our living seas volunteers conducted surveys from 9am-4pm, the last hour was cancelled due to strong winds. Bottlenose dolphins were seen consistently throughout the day foraging by the cardinal buoy and near the harbour wall. Atlantic grey seals were also spotted during survey times.

 

Sightings Update 01/10/2019: Bottlenose Dolphins and Atlantic Grey Seals

Weather conditions: Rain and sunny spells. Sea state 1-4, wind directions SW/N/NW

Our living seas volunteers conducted surveys from 9am-5pm. Bottlenose Dolphins were sighted throughout the day. During the 11am-1pm survey the dolphins were quite active with some leaping out of the water!. An Atlantic grey seal was spotted near the harbour wall during the afternoon.

 

Sightings Update 25/09/19: Bottlenose dolphins & Atlantic grey seal

Weather conditions: Fair/overcast, sea state 2/3, wind direction NW backing SW/W

Dolphins were seen intermittently through yesterday’s watches.  A group of 4 were spotted during the first survey foraging by the Cardinal buoy.  During the following survey our Living Seas Volunteer spotted a mother and juvenile and later in the day a solitary dolphin was seen close to the harbour wall. Also an Atlantic grey seal was spotted off Traeth y Dolau before it travelled west in front of the harbour wall.
