27/08/11: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seal

Three bottlenose dolphins

A mother and calf bottlenose dolphin was spotted near the cardinal buoy foraging and milling at the surface from 09:45 until the end of the two hour survey. One adult bottlenose dolphin was found in the last 15 minutes of the survey foraging just offshore from the harbour wall.

Nine bottlenose dolphins

Two adult bottlenose dolphins were located offshore from the cardinal buoy, leaping and tail slapping in the first 15 minutes of the survey. Three bottlenose dolphins including one calf were located near the harbour wall travelling towards the cardinal buoy where one adult bottlenose dolphin did travel to the cardinal buoy and the mother and calf stayed around the harbour wall. At 12:15 two adult bottlenose dolphins were found foraging by the harbour wall and they were joined by a mother and calf who were also foraging by the harbour wall before travelling towards the cardinal buoy.

Three bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal

Two bottlenose dolphins were found foraging between the cardinal buoy and the harbour wall for the first 45 minutes of the survey. One adult bottlenose dolphin was seen milling at the surface of the water just offshore from the harbour wall in the first 15 minutes of the survey.
