22/04/15: 14 Bottlenose Dolphins and an Atlantic Grey Seal

Three bottlenose dolphins

A group of three bottlenose dolphins moved throughout the survey area for the last hour of the survey, initially they were travelling in a north easterly direction from the cardinal buoy but then began foraging including long dives and chasing prey at the surface.

2 Bottlenose dolphins

An adult and a juvenile bottlenose dolphin were seen sporadically throughout the survey period. They were foraging by the cardinal buoy initially including deep dives, and then were seen to be travelling and foraging in an easterly direction from the fish factory towards the end of the survey.

Weather conditions: Sunny, sea state 2-3, wind direction E-SE
9 bottlenose dolphins and an Atlantic Grey Seal

Bottlenose dolphins were seen sporadically through the first hour of the survey in groups of one, three and five. There was a juvenile with both the group of three and with the group of five. The group of three were mingling at the surface with some leaps and tail slaps seen, while the group of five were travelling in an easterly direction towards the fish factory. In the second half of the survey, a Grey Seal was seen in the water not far from the harbour wall.
