18/08/12: Nine bottlenose dolphins, 16 Atlantic grey seals and two sunfish

Six Atlantic grey seals

Four Atlantic grey seals were seen bottling in the water near Ynys Lochtyn and two more were seen bottling in the water close to Cwm Tydu.

Two bottlenose dolphins, four Atlantic grey seals and two sunfish

One sunfish was seen in the harbour at the start of the survey, it was towards the cardinal buoy and at the surface. One bottlenose dolphin was then seen foraging by the fish factory and one Atlantic grey seal was seen by New Quay headland. A second Atlantic grey seal was also spotted close to New Quay headland.  Another sunfish was spotted on the offshore leg of the trip near Cwm Tydu and two female Atlantic grey seals were seen in the water near Ynys Lochtyn. One bottlenose dolphin was then seen foraging close to the fish factory. A sighting of a peregrine falcon was also recorded near New Quay headland.

Weather conditions: sea state 1-3, visibility >10km, light to moderate swell
Seven bottlenose dolphins and six Atlantic grey seals

Two bottlenose dolphins were seen travelling west and foraging close to Target Rock. A second pair of bottlenose dolphins was spotted near Ynys Lochtyn travelling and the animals also approached the boat. Six Atlantic grey seals were seen in the water close to Trywn Crou and three bottlenose dolphins including one juvenile were see foraging near New Quay headland.
