Eight bottlenose dolphins

In the last half hour of the survey period a pod of eight bottlenose dolphins, among them a mother and calf, were seen leaping near the headland and in the bay. Furthermore, one Atlantic grey seal was spotted north of the harbour wall in the last 15 minutes of the survey.

Six bottlenose dolphins

Six bottlenose dolphins, among them two calves, remained in the survey area for the first 45 minutes. Some of the bottlenose dolphins were seen taking long dives near the cardinal marker, thought to be foraging at depth. The others were seen leaping between cardinal marker and headland.

Weather conditions: rain, sea state 2-3, wind direction SE-SW
Seven bottlenose dolphins

Five bottlenose dolphins, among them a mother and calf, were seen near the headland travelling in an easterly direction. They were joined by a mother and newborn and were seen leaping in the bay, before travelling out of the bay again in a westerly direction. After about ten minutes time, four bottlenose dolphins were back in the bay and were seen taking deep dives and leaping.

Eight bottlenose dolphins

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the whole survey period. At the beginning of the survey, three bottlenose dolphins, among them a calf, remained in the survey area. They were soon joined by other bottlenose dolphins and a range of different behaviours were displayed by them. Some were seen taking long dives, thought to be foraging at depth, others travelled across the bay between headland and cardinal marker, while some were seen leaping.
