09/06/2016: 12 bottlenose dolphins and 9 Atlantic grey seals

Seven bottlenose dolphins and two Atlantic grey seals

Ten minutes into the survey, a group of three bottlenose dolphins was spotted travelling west with guillemots seen resting in close proximity. About forty minutes later, another group of three bottlenose dolphins was spotted foraging and travelling with guillemots and razorbills resting in close proximity. Over the next hour, two Atlantic grey seals were individually sighted in the water with herring gulls and kittiwakes resting nearby. Towards the end of the survey, a lone bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging close to the boat.

Five bottlenose dolphins and seven Atlantic grey seals

Twenty minutes into the survey, a lone Atlantic grey seal was spotted swimming in a north-westerly direction close to the boat. Roughly fifteen minutes later, a group of four bottlenose dolphins was seen travelling in a westerly direction. Over the next hour, six Atlantic grey seals were seen along the coastline, swimming, bottling and with one hauled out on the rocks. At the end of the survey, a lone bottlenose dolphin was sighted and observed foraging with short dives.
