Two bottlenose dolphins

At the beginning of the survey period, a single bottlenose dolphin was spotted travelling with irregular surfacing south-east across the survey area. Half way through the survey period, another bottlenose dolphin was sighted near the cardinal marker, briefly foraging at depth before disappearing. In the second half of the survey period, the first bottlenose dolphin that was sighted travelled towards the cardinal marker, and was observed travelling back and forth with irregular surfacing across the bay till the end of the survey period.

One bottlenose dolphin

The bottlenose dolphin seen at the end of the previous survey period was briefly seen travelling out fo the survey area in a westerly direction.

One bottlenose dolphin

A single bottlenose dolphin was sighted at the end of the survey period, travelling past the cardinal marker.

At least nine bottlenose dolphins

At the beginning of the survey period, a single bottlenose dolphin was observed travelling west offshore past the bay. It was shortly joined by another individual and both dolphins were then seen travelling south into the harbour, before changing direction and joining a larger group off shore of at least five individuals. The group of at least seven, including a calf, were then observed travelling with leaping and splashy surfacing past New Quay bay, before disappearing. At the end of the survey period a further two bottlenose dolphins were sighted around the cardinal marker, displaying splashy behaviour, including leaping, tail slapping and lunging.
