01/06/12: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

Weather conditions: Overcast and dull; sea state: 1-2; wind direction: SW/W
Five bottlenose dolphins

Two lone bottlenose dolphins were seen showing feeding behaviour in the first 15 minutes in the second 15 minutes 3 bottlenose dolphins were spotted and a boat interaction took place. At 9:30 one of the dolphins had left. No more dolphins were spotted until the end of the survey when one was spotted.

Five bottlenose dolphins

Three bottlenose dolphins were seen feeding one being a calf. General movement was towards fish factory.

Two bottlenose dolphins and one grey seal

Two bottlenose dolphins were spotted travelling individually one individual had several boat encounters although all boats slowed and did not alter course with the dolphin mainly appearing to ignore the boats. At the end of the survey an Atlantic grey seal was spotted by the harbour wall.

Two Atlantic grey seals were sighted. There may have been more to see however visibility was poor.
