You can still enjoy the Local Groups monthly talks from the comfort of home! 🙂

For many years, the Trust’s Local Members Groups have held monthly in-person meetings. The event calendar has always included enjoyable and informative talks about local wildlife and environmental projects. With field day outings in the summer to see spectacular habitats and wildlife around the UK.

With COVID-19 restrictions likely to remain in place for some time, the Local Groups have started to move their indoor meetings online. The groups will be using Zoom to connect with members, so you can still enjoy the monthly talks but now from the comfort of home.

In mid-October, Cardiff Local Group held their first Zoom talk on Myotis bats of South Wales by Jess Dangerfield (Vale of Glamorgan Bat Group). The talk was a great success, with the group learning about the under-recording of this bat genus, particularly in the Cardiff, Bridgend and Vale of Glamorgan counties, and the efforts of the South Wales Bat Groups’ project to address this data gap.

Their next talk, on shrews and hedgehogs by Dr. Dan Forman, is a joint online meeting between the Cardiff, Bridgend and Swansea Local Groups. The talk will be held on Thursday 12th November (7:30pm – 9pm). For more information about this talk please visit www.wtswwcardiff.org.uk.
