Our Mammal Mission Appeal Out of Area

The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales is on a mission to help wildlife on your doorstep, but we need your help…

The Red Squirrels in mid Wales are one of only three significant populations in the whole of Wales! It’s vitally important that we’re doing all we can to protect them. Unfortunately our resources only go so far until we rely on kind donations from people like you. By donating to this appeal you will be helping us to protect Reds in Wales.

What we’ve been doing so far…

Our dedicated volunteers have been keeping a close eye on our trail cameras for any Red Squirrel activity. We’ve also been providing ideal habitat management encouragement and advice to those wanting to help the Red Squirrel population. And finally our control of Grey Squirrels continues to give the Reds their best chance.

What we’d like to do with your help…

Being able to run a site-specific monitoring project of Red Squirrels using radio-tracking would give us a great insight into what areas and habitats the Red Squirrels are favouring. From this, we could ensure the results are used to improve our areas for Reds over the whole Mid Wales Red Squirrel Focal Site.
