‘The future is much too important to be left to chance... ...I am sure that, like me, you are also concerned about the future of our planet." Sir David Attenborough, Vice-President of The Wildlife Trusts

Will for Wildlife

Pecuniary Bequest - This is when you leave a specific sum of money. Please remember that inflation may impact on the amount we may actually receive.

Specific Bequest - This is when you choose to leave a specific item such as a painting, jewellery or even your home.

Residual Bequest - you may choose to leave whatever is left over once all your other bequests are made and all costs met. This is the residue of your estate.

Will for Wildlife Week (20th October to 27th October)

During Will for Wildlife Week, The Wildlife Trust is highlighting the importance of making a will – not only to look after loved ones but also to help protect local natural heritage for future generations to enjoy.

Over the past 50 years, legacies have helped the Wildlife Trust restore habitats and landscapes to the beauty and variety we once took for granted. They have helped us to save sites from the threat of development, and look after rare species, such as the otter and barn owl, which were once such a common feature of our countryside. Legacies are a way of protecting these precious species and sites so that they can be enjoyed by our grandchildren, and great-grandchildren - forever.

With average house prices rising so steeply, more and more estates are now liable for Inheritance Tax, which can be reduced or avoided with a thoughtful charitable bequest. Visiting a solicitor to discuss your needs could save your family a lot of money, and benefit your favourite charity. The Wildlife Trust has secured the support of six local solicitors to provide discounted will writing services for supporters of the Wildlife Trust.  Details of participating solicitors are listed below.

Madeleine Havard, Chief Executive of the Trust, says:

“We believe that many people would like to write or update their will to reflect their current situation, but simply haven’t got round to it yet. With the support of solicitors and banks, our Will for Wildlife discounts have made it easier for supporters to look after their family and friends and to remember their favourite charities such as The Wildlife Trust.

Legacies can make such a big different to the wildlife that we are working to protect – anyone who is interested in leaving a gift in their will would be welcome to come and meet and talk to us about our future plans –  linking our sites with others across Wales to provide wildlife connections to help mitigate for climate change is a long term aim that needs both commitment and funding.  That is why legacies can make such a difference. Writing a will is something that more than one in four people put off until it is too late. A clearly written will, kept updated throughout your life, is essential to ensure that your wishes are respected.”
