Top ideas for fundraising for wildlife

We have many ways that you can raise funds for wildlife – use our special inkjet cartridge recycling envelopes (email info@welshwildlife.org for your envelopes), pledge a monthly donation, adopt a species, recruit new members or you can try out one of our simple and fun ideas to help you get started.

1. Get active for wildlife - this could be a sponsored walk, run, swim, dance, yoga session or even a sponsored team day working with our Wildlife Trust Officers on a nature reserve.

2. Quiz – charge per person or per team.  If you want help with wildlife questions let us know!

3. Have a lucky tree in your office – number your unwanted Christmas or birthday gifts and put the number on a ‘leaf’ and get everyone to buy a leaf to win a prize.

4. Organise a coffee morning or an evening get together – ask people to bring along something to eat or drink and charge an entry fee.

5. Hold an auction of promises – ask people to donate a service, anything from cleaning the car, ironing, cutting the grass, walking the dog to making a cake.

6. Either organise or take part in a car boot sale to sell your unwanted goods in aid of the Trust.

7. Organise a sponsored bird watch – ask people to sponsor you for each species of bird you see at a specific time and place.

8. Hold a ‘bring and buy’ sale in your neighbourhood.

9. Ask your employer to match the fundraising efforts of yourself and your work colleagues £ for £.

10. Have fancy dress day at work and charge for the privilege.

11. Hold a collection at a shopping centre or a flag day in your town – we can help to organise the necessary permission.

12. Grow mini oaks from acorns and sell to friends.

13. Money snake – draw a wiggly snake and ask people to fill its length with 50p pieces.

14. Ask your children’s school to help raise funds for wildlife by having a spelling bee in their class using ‘wildlife words’.

15. Use your artistic flair to make Christmas and birthday cards to sell to family and friends or at coffee mornings.

16. Hold a garden open day and have a plant sale of cuttings.

17. Collect your favourite recipe ideas and make them into a booklet to sell – you could hold a taster session and charge an entry fee.

18. Organise a twmpath – a Welsh folk dancing party.

19. Ask a group of friends to sponsor a nature reserve, raising funds to help with the management.

20. Put your loose change in a pot and donate the money to the Trust when it’s full.

21. Sell your unwanted items on Ebay donating either all or a percentage of the proceeds to the Trust.

22. Organise a group to have a bag packing session at a local supermarket in exchange for a donation to the Trust – we can help with the necessary permission.
